About Allyu
Mission Statement [+ show][- hide]
Allyu (ah-yū), the Quechua word for community, represents our commitment to the ever- evolving needs of our clients, ourselves, and the earth that sustains us. This word encapsulates the philosophy of Allyu, and serves as a beacon as we interact with each other and our world.
Our gift within our community is safe space, superior treatments, resources, education, and products to promote health and well-being.
Our Beliefs:
- We believe in treating ourselves, each other and the earth with care and respect.
- We believe we are all part of a community and our actions affect the whole.
- We believe we each possess the power to create change, manifest our destiny and move away from that which does not serve us.
- We believe each person is imbued with innate gifts—all are equal, unique and honored.
- We believe our individuality can be expressed and appreciated within the structure that creates safety and order.
- We believe each person creates their own healing. We can create safe place for healing to occur and support one in initiating a journey. The choice of how to move forward on that journey is a personal decision, honored without judgment.
- We believe in embracing all people regardless of ethnicity, religious belief, gender, economic status or sexual orientation. Our world is beautiful and diverse.
- We believe in providing educational resources and creating community to inspire new ideas that support growth and whole person well-being.
- We believe in encouraging innovation and empowered decision making.
- We believe our actions, products and services should always embody excellence.
- We believe creating a healing space, caring respectfully for others, and ourselves customer satisfaction and profit goals can all be achieved together.
Our Space [+ show][- hide]
Our space was created sustainably, with respect for the earth’s limited resources and in celebration of its natural splendor. Textured clay plaster, mesquite and cork floors, reclaimed barnwood, walls of Wisconsin field stones, and adobe cob seating remind us that no compromise is needed to achieve beauty while remaining conscious of our planet.
The heart of Allyu is our relaxation area: a place for reflection and transition before or after a treatment. The internal shape represents the Chakana: an Andean symbol representing balance, oneness, and honor for the earth.
Conscious Business [+ show][- hide]
At Allyu, we embrace the interconnectedness of humankind and our affect on each other and our planet. This includes a commitment to sustainable business practices and a daily awareness of our impact on each other. From ecologically responsible retail partners and an extensive recycling program to free monthly meditations for our community, we strive to always operate with awareness and gratitude.

Workshop Facilitation[+ show][- hide]
Allyu Spa is excited to launch a free monthly workshop series in 2012. Do you have a unique workshop or seminar that you would be interested in offering as a gift to community and to support your vision? More information provided below and questions can be directed to community@allyuspa.com
Our intention:
Allyu has been hosting a free lunchtime meditation for the last several years and it continues to be a blessing and honor. Over this time, many of our guests have asked about the potential of additional workshops and seminars. 2012 is our year to begin hosting a variety of inspiring and informative evenings! We believe this can be both a gift to our community and a resource for facilitators to increase their exposure.
Time:
Third Tuesday of each month – 6:00-7:30
Location:
Allyu Spa
600 W Chicago Ave
Chicago, IL 60654
We are located in the former Montgomery Ward warehouse building at the corner of Chicago Ave and Larrabee St. Our entrance is on the plaza level on the Larrabee side of the intersection. We validate parking for $3 up to 3 hours in the parking structure directly across from our entrance.
Our Space:
Our workshop/community space is approximately 400sf (17’ x 28’). Hard wood flooring, clay plaster and barnwood cabinetry creates a warm and textural environment. 25 people can be accommodated comfortably. We are a re-habbed industrial space and air flow sounds are a unique part of that scenario. It creates a gentle white noise to blur the inevitable sounds of spa operations, but can be a challenge if your workshop requires guiding the group with a very soft voice. You may not be heard. Our community room is located off the reception area near our front entrance.
Allyu Spa’s role:
Allyu will provide creation and organization of a diverse monthly calendar of events, promotion through our website and social media outlets, announcement in our monthly newsletter, designated event page to collect RSVPs, clean space, portable cd player/iPod dock, chairs or cushions, tables and whiteboard for facilitator if needed, water service, greeting and guidance for guests, $3 parking validation for up to 3 hours, and list of participant emails from the sign in list.
Facilitator’s role:
We ask that facilitators provide content that is well prepared and in alignment with the initial proposal, a body of knowledge that is whole in itself and does not require additional purchases for completion (you are welcome to introduce any products or services you offer that can supplement the workshop), previous experience presenting this topic in workshop form, a brief description of content for use in our promotional efforts, promotion through your own website or other resources, commitment to the date mutually scheduled and as much notice as possible if cancellation is needed (we will be promoting several months in advance), communication regarding supplies you will be needing that we provide, guidance of participants to keep noise at a moderate level and arrival at least 20 minutes prior to start.
If you are interested:
Please feel free to direct any further questions to community@allyuspa.com (community null@null allyuspa NULL.com) or you are welcome to call us at 312-755-1313 (ask for Tamara or Kaicy). If you have a workshop or seminar consistent with our philosophy that you would like to present, please email us the following information: topic you would like to cover, previous experience you have presenting, additional seminars or products you will be promoting to guests and your preference of dates (must be 3rd Tuesday of each month in 2012). Thank you!
